Details: Amazon.ca Continuing the quality theme among their so far well-chosen DJ Kicks series (including contributory musical luminaries such as Andrea Parker and Stereo MC's), Studio K7 invite Composts Truby Trio on board for a 15-track round-up of the club jazz diaspora. Cutting an even jib between summer samba vocal cuts and deeper percussive feet movers, the compilation takes recent highlights from the world of "leftfield" clubbing and presents a well-rounded mix that should suit insomniacs or pre-party makers. Modestly including two of their own tracks, the vocal off beater "Hi Jazz" and a bass-heavy mix, courtesy of Zero db, of "Galicia", the trio headed by founding father Rainer Truby search out further nuggets that have received wide support in recent times from the likes of Gilles Peterson, Ross Allen and Patrick Forge. Step forth then the soon-to-be classic "Transcend Me" from Orin Walters Afronaught alter-ego, staccato percussives and spoken word from the Yellow labels Africanism and "Edony", and the Rhodes heavy groove of Slow Supreme's "Granada". Tracks that border include Freeform Five's full vocal re-hash of Tim Hutton's "Colours", and the languid street soul of Korova's "Some People". Other than that, this is a fair reflection of the Compost sound that continues the sterling tradition of the DJ Kicks series. -- Found Sounds
