Ephemeral was inspired by the story of The Little Prince (it runs in synchronization with the 1979 claymation film). This album was written to explore the same concepts and themes contained in Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s densely filled children's novella; themes of the ephemerality of human existence, the absurdity of life, the values placed upon the pursuit of power, wealth and knowledge, says Aucoin. Isolation and relationships are a big focus in the book and the record and the realization that our relationships are the most important part of our short existence. Après avoir tourné à travers le monde sans relâche durant trois années (tournées pan-canadiennes, festivals européens, même un beach party à Madagascar), Rich Aucoin nous revient avec son deuxième album, Ephemeral. Avec cet opus, le philosophe aguerri en lui a condensé toutes ses idées de grandeur en dix chansons pop dansantes insufflées d’un message positif. Les textes d’Ephemeral ont été inspirés de l’histoire du Petit Prince (l’album suit la narration du dessin animé américain paru en 1979). Cet album a été écrit dans le but d’explorer les mêmes concepts et thématiques abordés dans le conte pour enfants d’Antoine de Saint- Exupéry: l’éphémérité de l’existence humaine, l’absurdité de la vie, l’importance accordée à la quête du pouvoir, de la richesse et de connaissances, explique Aucoin.
