Details: Amazon.ca The spectacular singing and powerhouse smiles of Glee burst across the stage in Glee: The 3D Concert Movie. From "Don't Stop Believin'" to "Born This Way," the kids of fictional show choir New Directions exuberantly belt out their repertoire, demolishing any notions of genre as they blend '70s power ballads, '80s pop, Broadway show tunes, dance hits, and hip-hop into a glistening vocal puree. Though this is a documentary of the tour with backstage interviews, the movie blurs any distinction between the actors and their characters; the conceit seems to be that New Directions itself has gone on tour (albeit with an infusion of very expensive sets, costumes, and lighting). Interestingly, the movie spends almost as much time filming the audience as the performers, and the stories of three fans get explored as an example of how Glee's celebration of outsiders and outcasts has affected their lives. And boy, do these fans embrace this show! You can feel the adoration shimmering in the air, reaching a near-religious fervor when Kurt (Chris Colfer) sings his torch song rendition of "I Want to Hold Your Hand." Glee: The 3D Concert Movie is a mutual love letter, celebrating the audience as much as that audience cherishes the show. --Bret Fetzer
