Hospice Party marks a turn towards a more ambitious yet accessible sound for the young Montreal-based band. Both catchy and moving, Wavery’s first LP was designed to be a celebration of self-doubt and confusion; the soundtrack to a funeral that turns into a party. If some moments on this record will undoubtedly make you want to dance, others will probably make you wonder if someone is peeling onions nearby. In the end, Hospice Party is a true ode to melancholy meant to be sung at the very top of your lungs.
