Details: Christine Darbon walks down a street in Paris. She carries a violin case. She stops to buy fruit. We only see his legs and the violin. “Here is Mademoiselle,” said the shopkeeper. “Not miss. Madam ! corrects Christine. Antoine Doinel married Christine Darbon; still unstable, he temporarily exercises an unusual profession: he dyes flowers in the courtyard of his building, to make them more attractive. Christine gives violin lessons at home. She is soon pregnant and Antoine, who has lost his job as a florist following improper chemical handling, joins a major American company that carries out hydraulic research and experiments. Christine gives birth to a boy, whom she wants to call Ghislain, but who will be called Alphonse; it is under this first name that Antoine declares him at the town hall. This one, always fickle, meets a Japanese woman, it is the first time that he cheats on Christine. Kyoko sends Antoine little love notes and hides them in a bouquet of tulips. Christine notices that the tulips open one after the other dropping the words on the table. Christine feels that Antoine is cheating on her, and one evening she welcomes him dressed as a Japanese girl, big tears streaming down her made-up cheeks. Christine and Antoine are going to separate but Antoine is bored with Kyoko. One evening, at the restaurant, while having dinner with her, Antoine leaves the table several times during the meal to telephone Christine. Antoine reunites with Christine: the couple reunites.
